Happy Spring!

Today is the Spring Equinox and in celebration we have decided to begin our Spring Break today! Hopefully we will get the chance to get outside this week to enjoy the weather. This morning, in typical spring fashion, it is raining but the temperature is supposed to reach into the 60's by afternoon. Already I can see the sun trying to come out.

More nice weather meant more outdoor school today. After morning subjects and lunch, the kids went in the yard for some quiet reading time. They each found a comfortable spot to relax with their books.

We were inspired by the beautiful weather this week to resume our nature studies. So this morning with journals in hand, the kids went out the back gate in search of living creatures to observe. They came back with sketches of grasshoppers and spiders. There would have been drawings of geese too they said if only they hadn't flown away so quickly.

E and M have been having a great time working on their music the last couple of weeks. This is something that the two of them have been doing pretty much on their own, without much input from me. The older has been helping the younger learn the basics of the recorder- what better way to learn than to teach, right? They surprised me when they said they had decided that E should learn the same song on his guitar so they could play together. They got every note right and sounded great together- music to my ears!
