Oh, I'm surprised to see it's been a month since I last posted here. We have been really busy though. Having a new baby along with the 4 other kids really cuts into my blogging time. :-) But it is a good kind of busy. I am enjoying every day with the kids, watching them grow and learn and be best friends together. That's not to say that we don't have our bad days. It's been stressful managing the baby's feedings, the two year old's neediness, the 4 year old's endless energy, the 8 and 11 yr old's homeschooling needs, as well as keeping the house clean, the kids fed, oh and the joy of washing all those cloth diapers. But somehow it all works out.

Our history studies are still focused on native american tribes and this week we narrowed in on the great mound builders of the midwest. I'm hoping to take a drive next week to see the nearby burial mounds. For science, we've been studying geology. We spent some time outside collecting and identifying different types of rocks. This inspired Evan to learn as much as he can about rocks and he's spending most of his free time reading up on the subject and taking lots of notes. We also had fun with an experiment on crystallization. And of course we're keeping up with our other subjects as well. Maya is doing great with Math this year and is almost ready to move up to the next level. Hopefully after the holidays, I can order some new curriculum.
